Forests have histories. They get planted, cleared, and replanted - and now the platform can hold that full story. This month we've added support for multiple planting and clearance events per polygon, so you can model a forest across as many rotations as you need.

New Features

Multi-Rotation Forest Planning

Forests don't have a single story. They get planted, cleared, and replanted - often more than once, sometimes across different species with different methods. Until now, the platform could only hold two rotations. That limit is gone.

You can now model a forest's full history and future as a sequence of planting and clearance events. Add as many rotations as you need, in chronological order, and the platform will calculate the carbon economics across all of them - including surrender liabilities, residual carbon, and the different ETS accounting methods.

This changes what's possible for long-running projects and production forestry portfolios. If you manage land that has been through multiple cycles, or you're planning ahead for future clearances and replanting, you can now represent that accurately in the platform.

What Else?

  • Layers panel improvements - The layers panel has had a visual refresh and a new transparency control. You can now adjust the transparency of any layer using a slider, which makes it much easier to work with multiple overlapping layers - dial each one in so everything stays readable. The panel itself is also cleaner and easier to navigate.

  • Toggle site names on the all sites map - You can now switch site name labels on and off in the all sites map view. Useful when you're working at scale and the labels are getting in the way.

  • Expand charts view - You can now open any chart in the analytics panel to a larger view with a single click.

  • Forest sequestration accuracy for alternative schemes - Carbon Intelligence now uses sequestration data directly from the credit scheme rather than CarbonCrop Units when calculating analytics for non-ETS schemes. The numbers in CI now more accurately reflect what each scheme is actually measuring.

  • Custom species sequestration curves - Custom species curves can now override sequestration estimates regardless of which credit scheme is selected. Previously this only worked consistently under the ETS - now it works across all schemes.

  • Clearance warning for permanent CAAs - We've added a warning to prevent accidentally adding a clearance event to a polygon registered under the Permanent ETS accounting method. Clearance and Permanent are incompatible, and it was too easy to do this without realising.

  • Platform carbon price updated - We've updated the carbon price model with current NZU market data, reflected in analytics and financial forecasting across the platform.

  • Mobile-friendly user list in email panel - The user list in the email sending panel has been updated with a cleaner layout for mobile screens.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where locking a polygon was unexpectedly changing its report category.

  • Fixed incorrect report category suggestions.

  • Fixed a display bug where the NZETR account name was overlapping the account number when the name was long.

  • Fixed an issue with alternative carbon schemes not displaying correctly in the analytics panel.

  • Fixed a bug where custom species curves weren't being applied correctly for future forest planning scenarios.

  • Fixed the LAR NZU chart not displaying correctly in some cases.

Stay tuned for more updates next month!
