What's new? July 2026 - Forest Financials

This month, we gave you the full financial picture for your forests, plus a flexible new way to build your own tasks.


New Features


Forest Financials: NPV, IRR and Payback Period

You can now see the full financial picture for a site or polygon, not just the carbon revenue. We've added NPV (net present value), IRR (internal rate of return) and payback period to the financials view, alongside the carbon income projections you already know.


Until now, you could see what a forest might earn in carbon revenue, but not what it costs to establish, or when you'd actually break even. We've changed that.

The new chart shows your net carbon income and establishment costs side by side, with a cumulative discounted cash flow line so you can see exactly when a project pays for itself. Hover over NPV, IRR or payback period and you'll get a plain-English explanation of what each one means.

One thing to know: the discount rate used is currently fixed at 7%. We're looking at making this adjustable in a future update.


What Else?

  • Custom Tasks - You can now build your own tasks from scratch, with your own sub-tasks and assignments, instead of only working from predefined ones. Planning a round of farm visits? Create a task with your agenda, pre-work and follow-ups. Running a planting plan with multiple stakeholders? Assign different people to different steps, from securing funding to confirming species and proving the trees are in the ground. This is an early release and we've already seen some great examples of what people are building with it. More to come here.

  • See Who Else Is on the Map With You - You can now see when someone else is working on the same site as you, in real time. You'll see each other's cursor moving around the map, with initials in a bubble. It's a great way to point someone straight to the polygon you're talking about.

  • Date Added in Simple Export CSV - The Simple Export CSV now includes a Date added column, showing when each site joined your company. Useful for reconciling invoicing or reporting against when sites came on board.

  • Platform Carbon Price Updated - We've updated our default carbon price forecast to reflect current NZU market conditions.


Bug Fixes

  • Fixed ETS shapefile download errors for certain species and establishment method combinations.

  • Fixed the NZU price shown in the LAR FAQ to reflect custom price forecasts.

  • Fixed maps failing to render in exported report PDFs.

  • Fixed an issue where copy/pasting between sites and layers could result in planting attributes being lost from polygons.
