We’re ready to rock for registrations under the new ETS exotic forest LUC restrictions.

New Features
Registrations Under New ETS Restrictions Now Supported
As a part of the ETS exotic forest LUC restrictions changes, from 1st November, MPI requires all new submissions to include Land Use Classification (LUC) information for the land being registered.
Our platform now fully supports this requirement, so you can prepare your registration application through the platform again.
We have updated our shapefile schema to support registration submissions under the new requirements. Shapefiles downloaded from CarbonCrop now contain the new fields required by Tupu-Ake and can be used for registrations.
You need to indicate which exemption pathway we are utilising for registration, and the values in the shapefile will be updated to indicate to Tupu-Ake the intended exemption pathway.

Report Selector
The report category has always been a bit of a can of worms. In some cases it has been automatic, others it has been manually determined. We’ve decided to make this more consistent.
The report category for a polygon is now automatically determined by the predominant species and establishment date. If you change the attributes, the polygon category will automatically update, unless you override it. Overrides are accompanied by an alert and tagged as manual so you can tell the difference between an automatic or overridden category.

What Else?
1990 Forest Status - when mapping forest, you can just set the 1990 Forest State, which will automatically calculate if the area is eligible or not.

Report category automatically changes to Ineligible if 1990 Forest Status is Forest Kickstarter (not the crowdfunding platform) - for catchment groups who want topline catchment data to pinpoint farmer engagement based on forest cover, erosion risk or LUC, then pay by farm by farm.
Final Emissions Return 2025 Task - we’re only one month away from FERs! We have created a task to help guide us through filing the emissions returns and are making it more widely available. If you would like to use this task, please let us know and we’ll turn it on for you.
Registration Year - A selected registered polygon shows the year it was registered, based on when the registered shapefiles were uploaded
Titles Layers - when you turn on the NZ Property Titles layer the title number will show.
Comprehensive CSV Export - hitting download in Carbon Intelligence now gives you lots of options to go really deep in the details you can export. You can now export right down to the polygon level.
Bug Fixes
Made custom layers more robust
Fixed an issue with the ‘AI is running’ notification
Improved reliability of AI processing
Stay tuned for more updates next month!
