This month was all about giving polygons superpowers, from creating full paddock polygons for easier planting planning to choosing whether to over- or underwrite existing polygons with the polygons copied on your clipboard.

These small-but-mighty changes make it easier and faster to plan new planting areas across planting areas within a single farm, or across multiple properties within a larger project.

CarbonCrop team members Charlie Cottrell-Jury (carbon analyst) and Nick Butcher (co-founder and CEO) mapping forest within the CarbonCrop platform.

New Features

Paddocks

Fences are expensive! So, when planning planting or regeneration, it makes sense to use existing fencelines.

If you have your fencelines mapped already, you can upload your paddocks into CarbonCrop to make planting planning easier.

Interactive Layers

Previously, any new layers (like paddocks) were view-only. Now you can interact with them. Click the pencil next to any layer, and get drawing.

Copy-paste

Want to move features between layers? Select the areas you want, hit Ctrl+C (or copy from the toolbar), and use Ctrl+V to paste them in another layer. You can also use this to copy between sites, or from an older version. You can even copy polygons to QGIS!

Paste Over

Pasting a polygon usually preserves existing polygons, however you may want to paste a new polygon over top. Use Ctrl+Shift+V (or paste over from the toolbar).

You can also draw a new polygon over.

Draw Polygon Over

In the same vein, you now have the option to draw over top of existing polygons

Select All

Ctrl+A selects all polygons. Combine this with filters to select a subset

What Else?

Topo-map now automatically switches between Topo-250 and Topo-50 depending on your zoom level

Carbon Intelligence starts in 2024 - so you can see last year’s sequestration. This will progress automatically at the end of the year

Export PDF button in the top right corner of any report

Registered Areas Report is now available for consultants to use. Generate this report from the reports tab to send to your landowners to communicate their ETS registered areas and future returns.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an infinite loading spinner in the registered areas report

  • Registration status for CCU areas now comes through in Carbon Intelligence

  • Better handling of rejected CAAs with overlapping CAA numbers

  • Fixed an issue where uploading registered areas can result in 100s of warnings

Stay tuned for more updates next month!
