Estimating the costs of your planting plans just got easier. This month, we’ve released custom species with default establishment costs and planting densities to help you get from planning to trees in the ground a little faster. Plus a few extra tools to tidy things up and improve visibility.

CarbonCrop team members Charlie Cottrell-Jury (carbon analyst) and Nick Butcher (co-founder and CEO) mapping forest within the CarbonCrop platform.

New Features

More species customisation

If you’re often planning a similar planting regime, you can use default settings to shortcut entering the density and establishment costs each time.

Add default costs and densities to a custom species profile in the company settings and it will flow through to every property and every polygon you’re working with. Less data entry, more accurate planting cost estimates.

Register faster and with fewer mistakes

We’ve identified some of the most common mistakes users make when registering in the ETS, and now automatically detect them. For example:

  • Polygon is under 1 ha

  • Polygon is <30m wide

  • Tree species not specified or eligible

  • … and more!

These warnings are shown in one place, and grouped by polygon. Click to fly to that polygon.

Additionally, to avoid being flooded with warnings, the system only shows them for polygons intended to be registered in the ETS.

New Historic LINZ Basemaps

LINZ recently created full country Pre-90 and Post-89 maps. These can now be found in our platform.

CAA Summary Table

A table showing a list of polygons ordered by CAA with additional details like forest type, area, year and method of establishment.

Details Panel Shuffle

We’ve moved a few fields in the details panel:

  • Establishment method is now under the planting details

  • Grant funding details is it’s own section

  • Land Activity Type is now underneath holding account details - at the site level

Can now bulk include/exclude

Want to remove a bunch of polygons from financials? You no longer have to exclude them one-by-one

Search by holding account number

Type the holding account number into the sites search box, and you’ll find all sites with that account number.

Syncing status

Not everyone has an amazing internet connection! If the platform fails to auto-save, we will now indicate this at the top left of your screen and let you retry.

Polygons are now filterable on the map page
